What is video conferencing?

What kind of equipment do I need to set up my videoconference?
web camera (apply for your free web camera)
computer with T1 line internet access
large monitor or LCD panel or data projector
microphone/speakers

I have requested my videoconferencing session, now what?
We will be contacting you shortly to arrange the details of your session.

What should I do BEFORE a videoconference?
* Make sure your equipment is working properly. Microphones should be muted, unless discussing, asking questions or otherwise prompted by presenter.
*Explain proper videoconferencing “etiquette” to your students – i.e., no fidgeting, pay attention, remember the presenter can see you also, etc.
*Do any pre-conference instruction – make sure your students are prepared for the material covered in the videoconference. Some conferences will post material.
*Ask your students to come up with questions before the presentation. Often, students have difficulty posing questions “on the spot.” The more questions and interaction, the better.

What should I do AFTER a videoconference?
*Fill out an online evaluation. These are anonymous and short in length. We ask that teachers and students fill out individual evaluations.
*View an archived videoconference to use in another class or to supplement a future curriculum topic.
