Professor Jack Herrmann Dr. John Herrmann graduated with a DVM from the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1978, following a biology degree in 1974 from Illinois Wesleyan University. He joined a private practice in Freeport, IL concentrating primarily on dairy herd health, small animal medicine and wildlife rehabilitation. In 1989, Dr. Herrmann passed the reproduction specialty board examination and became a Diplomate in the American College of Theriogenologists. In 2003, Dr. Herrmann was awarded a Congressional Science Fellowship and served as a science advisor in the United States Senate. He has worked on legislation concerning various public health issues from mad cow disease to HIV-AIDS, from dietary supplements to genetically modified foods. He has written three bills introduced during the 108th Congress and the current Congressional session. In the Fall of 2004
Dr. Herrmann joined the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary
Medicine to further develop and act as Director of the DVM/MPH program,
a collaboration with the University of Illinois-Chicago, School of Public
Health. He is also currently the Section Head for Food Animal Reproduction,
Medicine and Surgery, provides client services in dairy and canine reproduction,
teaches classes to students in all four years of the DVM curriculum and
is engaged in clinical research. |
